Crime Prevention

Cactus Products actively works with the local community to advise on Crime Prevention and to help install the spiked strips for elderly or vulnerable customers. We strive to do much more than simply sell the Cactus, we aim to champion crime prevention and educate householders in maximising their security.

As a member of Hartlepool Crime Prevention Panel, we are delighted to offer the following advice and recommendations:

1. Make sure windows and doors are locked
2. Do not leave valuables on display
3. Fit key operated locks to windows
4. Fit security lights to rear of your property
5. If you have an alarm use it
6. Don’t leave car keys near doors or windows
7. Use timers to switch on lights to look in when you’re out.
8. Security mark your property
9. Keep your shed secure fit a good quality padlock use bolts instead of screw fixings for greater security.
10. Restrict access to rear of your property.
11. Make fences and walls difficult to climb
12. Keep cycles locked even inside the garage or shed
13. Don’t leave tools or ladders lying around for burglars to use
14. Don’t give employment to cold callers
15. Lock internal doors leading into your home from garden rooms and conservatories
